“At one time, life didn’t mean much to me. But then I got hit by shrapnel in Vietnam and almost died. In fact, they said I was dead in the hospital, but I’m still here after all these years. I was one of the lucky ones.”
“How did that change you?”
“I enjoy life a lot more.”
“What do you enjoy doing the most?”
“Just being out, enjoying the snow, meeting people like you, talking to them. But don’t get me wrong—I would never join the service if I had a choice. What good is war? It doesn’t help anybody. Someday, maybe people will wake up and say, ‘Hey, what the hell is all this war about?’ and they’ll stop.”
Good idea. 😉
