These hyperspectral images of galaxies were created as a collaboration between NASA and amateur astronomers. X-ray light, shown in purple, was imaged by the Chandra space telescope. Infrared light, shown in red, was imaged by the Spitzer space telescope. The visible light images were provided by Detlef Hartmann and Rolf Olsen. From top; M81, The Pinwheel Galaxy, Centaurus A, and The Whirlpool Galaxy.
